Ashley’s Coaching Philosophy

Running coaches are a dime a dozen these days! Work with someone who is actually going to find YOUR strengths for the sport and not just treat you like a number. In order to really help an athlete reach their potential, it’s not just about looking at numbers – I look at a runner individually. I assess their form, physical abilities, goals, curiosities, and really help them to assess their strengths and weaknesses. My job is to do all of the research, and the runner’s job is to relax and enjoy the process! I also feel strongly that there is an advantage to coaches being at an athlete’s race. If athletes race an OMR event I hope to be onsite to brief you and review your plans, to give you pep talks as needed, and to give you a big dirt runner hug at the finish!

Running Bio

Growing up in Michigan, I played basketball. I was a scrappy lil' point guard (hence the name "Bulldog"). Running was something I trained on quite a bit, but was never something I thought of as “fun”. During graduate school I became more active, and started running with friends. By the first race, I was hooked. I wanted to run more events, get faster, and go longer. Since that time, I have continued my training now to a competitive level. I have had two children over the course of my athletic years and lost considerable weight, + added muscle. I transitioned from Road to Trail officially in 2018. In 2019 I was ranked in the top 95% on Ultra Signup, looking towards building my resume up in 2020 & competing in National Championships (now deferred to 2021).
